Unique Arctic Independent Teaching Contract

This is a one-year full-time teaching contract, with the possibility of renewal, at the Salluit Sapummivik Boys Program, a culturally sensitive, residential setting for up to 10 adolescent boys in Nunavik, Quebec.

Bartimaeus Inc. provides independent private practitioners in several professional fields to work with behaviourally challenging children and adolescents in schools, social service organizations, hospitals, and with private families in Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritimes. One of our services is to provide specialized tutoring and teaching with Inuit youth in placement in the Montreal region.

We have been contracted to provide a full time teacher for the Sapummivik Boys Program, a very dynamic, culturally rich, clinical program operating for Inuit boys in Nunavik, Quebec. A maximum of ten students with the consistent support of youth care staff need a creative and innovative teacher. We are looking for the right person who is independent, experienced, caring, and culturally sensitive to implement a multi-grade cross curriculum program for our boys.

This is a private contract paying $50.00/hour for a 6.4 hour day, of which a maximum of 5 hours is direct teaching, with 20 professional days and 180 teaching days. All travel and lodging is paid and a northern premium and food stipend is also provided. Two paid trips south are also built in to this contract.
