Qikiqtani School Operations invites applications for the following position:
Teacher: Generalist Grades 6-12

Grade: 6-12

School Description: Arnaqjuaq School is a K-12 school with approximately 220 students

Required qualifications:
• B.Ed.
• Must be eligible for Nunavut Professional Teaching Certificate

Desired qualifications:
• Subject knowledge, training and experience relevant to the assignment
• Experience / training writing referrals for consultations and IEP’s
• Experience / training developing student support plans in consultation with parents and other staff
• Experience / training supporting teachers in assessing learner needs for referral writing
• Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
• Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
• Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)
• Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
• Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
• Training and / or teaching experience in an ESL environment
• Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
• Skills / training using education-related information technology ie SMART Board Applications
• Planning skills (lesson, theme, unit, year, and student support plans)
• Experience working as a collegial member of the overall school team and to plan for students using a collaborative approach

Please note: Subsidized staff housing is is available but sharing will be required.

Salary: $75,006 to $117,609
(The principal administrative allowance for Arnaqjuaq School is $18,235. The vice principal allowance is half of the principal allowance.)

The Northern Allowance for Hall Beach, Nunavut is $23,561
