Prairie River Junior High School requires a full-time (1.0 FTE) Junior High teacher commencing the 2018-19 school year. This assignment includes teaching Math 7, Social 7, Health and CTS. The successful candidate will be issued a Temporary Contract for the term.
Prairie River Junior High School is located in the town of High Prairie in northern Alberta within Big Lakes County. It is located at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 749, approximately 371 kms northwest of Edmonton and 118 kms west of Slave Lake.
In addition to academic programming, PRJHS boasts an exceptionally strong student athletics program including basketball, golf, volleyball, track and field, badminton, cross country running and archery. We continue to maintain a tradition of excellence for student achievement at various levels of competition. The school further offers a full arts program including fine arts, performing arts, and industrial arts as well as a variety of option courses.
High Prairie School Division provides many supports for their employees. We employ a full time mentor coach who supports all new teachers to the Division with an Orientation program and on-site mentoring. The Professional Development opportunities are supported in many forms and all employees have many supports that allow them to grow and improve in their professional practice.
Candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Education Degree and be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
