Qikiqtani School Operations invites applications for the following position:

Grade 9-12 High School Teacher

The status of this position is: 3 Year TERM

The position is 1.0 PY (full-time position.)

School Description:
Peter Pitseolak High School is a grade 7-12 school with a population of 180 students.

Required qualifications:
Must be eligible for Nunavut Professional Teaching Certificate

Desired qualifications:
. Subject knowledge, training and experience relevant to the assignment
. Experience and/ or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments ( e.g. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective behaviour Supports, etc.)
. Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
. Training/experience teaching in an ESL environment
. Evidence of training/experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
. Planning skills (lesson, theme, unit, year, and student support plans)
. Training and experience with current assessment methods
. Experience working as a collegial member of the overall school team and to plan for using a collaborative approach
. Effective Communication skills
. Skills/training using education-related information technology ie SMART Board Applications
. Evidence /experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
. Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices

Please note: Subsidized staff housing is available for this position. However sharing WILL be required

Salary and Nunavut Northern Allowance: The salary for certified teachers ranges from $75,006 to $117,609. The Northern Allowance for Cape Dorset is $20,980.
