POSITION: COUNSELLOR IN ACADEMIC TRAINING
DEPARTMENT: ADULT EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING

STATUS: FULL-TIME REPLACEMENT

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Adult Education and Vocational Training Department, the Counsellor provides guidance and career development services to AEVTD students. The job incumbent shall:

 Support students in the search for ways to enable them to carry out their training project
 Travel to the various AEVTD centers to meet individuals or groups in relation to career development
 Support vocational training students in order to identify internship environments
 Follow up Kativik Ilisarniliriniq graduates to obtain information on the training-employment match
 Follow up dropouts in order to refer them to the services provided by the AEVTD
 Act as a resource for the guidance-oriented approach
 Plan, organize and facilitate school and professional information activities
 Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with representatives of the labor market and other relevant organizations

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, or a related field

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent in English and one other language (Inuktitut or French)
Must have access to a vehicle
Must be available in the evenings and some week-ends
Willing to take courses when required by the Board
Willing to travel to Northern communities

ASSETS:
Knowledge of Inuktitut and or French
Experience in Northern and Native education

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPOM collective agreement for professionals / From $40,241 to $76,293 annually depending on qualification and experience.

In addition to salary, you may be eligible to other benefits such as:

• Social trips
• Food cargo

All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
