Dehcho Divisional Education Council invites applications for employment from educators who are collaborative problem solvers motivated by challenge.
The Council is responsible for 500 students in eight communities. Council staff assists schools to offer holistic, culturally relevant programs that meet the learning needs of all students. To this end the Council staff keeps abreast of advances in education and developments in technology that support teacher instructional practice and student learning.
This position is located at the council office in Fort Simpson and reports to the Superintendent.
The Teacher Consultant serves as the Administrator for the PowerSchool Student Information System and is responsible for its technical management and user support. S/He will be responsible for working cooperatively with NWT Education, Culture and Employment staff to assist in planning and implementing required changes and updates as necessary.
The Teacher Consultant manages Information Technology Services for the Council office and schools. In addition to the DDEC First Class email system, s/he manages the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and management of computer systems for both PC and Macintosh platforms in the Council Office and Schools. Basic administration of the telephone system is necessary.
The majority of the incumbent's work is self-initiated and independent within established procedures for the position. Interaction in person and via various technologies is required on a daily basis with DDEC staff, other government departments and non governmental agencies. The Teacher Consultant must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the PowerSchool Administrator and Technical Manager. To accommodate school schedules, some tasks may be required outside the normal hours of work. Extensive travel is required outside the normal hours of work. Extensive travel is required to carry out the duties of the Teacher Consultant. Training of Council and school staff is also a requirement of the position.
