The Nunavut Department of Education, Qikiqtani School Operations invites applications for the following position:
High School Principal

Grade Assignment: High School Gr. 7-12

School Description: Nasivvik High School is a 7-12 school with approximately 230 students

Required qualifications:
Must be eligible for Nunavut Professional Teaching Certificate
Three (3)years of Administrative experience

Desired qualifications:

. Graduate training in Educational Administration
. Understanding of and experience with high school graduation requirements
. Experience with high school time tabling and programming to meet student needs
. Graduate training in Literacy and Assessment strategies consistent with Balanced Literacy
. Experience working successfully with a local education authority
. Experience in the use of educational software to maintain student records and record assessments
. Experience in leading a school team to accommodate diverse learning needs
. Successful leadership of school improvement initiatives
. Demonstrated ability to plan effectively on both short and long term to deploy school resources
. Experience in the site management of school resources
. Demonstrated effective communication in all formats
. Experience working successfully in a cross-cultural learning environment
. Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict and promote consensus among stakeholders
. Experience and / or training with current assessment practices

Please note: Subsidized staff housing is is available but sharing will be required.

Salary: $75,006 to $117,609 plus administrative allowance
(The principal administrative allowance for Nasivvik High School is $15,965
The Northern Allowance for Pond Inlet, Nunavut is $24,214
