Chalo School is pleased to invite qualified applicants to apply to (1) full-time, grade 4/5 position for the 2018/19 school year.

Chalo School is owned and operated by the Fort Nelson First Nation. The school maintains Independent School status in the province of British Columbia and follows the prescribed curriculum of the Ministry of Education.

Chalo School enrolls 130 students from preschool three year old to grade twelve and has established adult learning and apprenticeship programs. The school has a staff of sixteen teachers and a support staff of seven. Exceptional leadership, coupled with Fort Nelson First Nation’s vision for a Strong, Healthy, Proud, and Self-Reliant community, guides our exemplary school.

Preference will go to those candidates who are willing to:

Deliver Read Well, Reading Mastery, or, Corrective Reading
Engage with an instructional coach
Join a Provincial PLC Model (in Vancouver) and a School-Wide PLC Model (on-site)
Collaborate with teacher colleagues both in-school and provincially
Use data/results to drive classroom/school-wide improvement initiatives
Engage with local culture and participate in community events, while actively learning our language and culture
Commit to the belief that all children can learn to high levels
Commit to authentic and effective professional development

Preference will also go to those candidates who also have demonstrated:

Excellent teaching, planning and assessment skills
Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements:

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Clear Criminal Record Check
Evaluation/and observation reports
