The award-winning design, Dene Tha’ Community School in Chateh, Alberta is seeking qualified teachers in Elementary, Jr. High, and Sr. High.

The Dene Tha’ Community School offers programming from Head Start to Grade 12 to approximately 170 students and is located in Northern Alberta. The community has cell service, high speed fiber internet and is one hour away from the Town of High Level on a paved highway. High Level has several businesses such as Tim Horton's, Subway, KFC, Boston Pizza, Can Tire, Home Hardware, several restaurants, motels and golf course. Also, Rainbow Lake is 25 minutes away with motels, restaurants and a golf course. Teachers of Aboriginal decent, and/or experience in First Nations schools, as well as recent graduates, are encouraged to apply. Chateh is located roughly 100 km northwest of High level, AB.

Other considerations include:
• Have knowledge, understanding and integration (in curriculum) of First Nations cultures/knowledge is an asset
• Have knowledge and experience working with children who have special needs with the ability to adapt programs to account for a diversity of learning needs.
• Have excellent class management and supervision skills
• Demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and professional work ethics
• Can, or will become, student learning focused with abilities to adapt and implement instructional programs and methods
• Ability, or desire, to be involved in extra-curricular activities, fundraising, and class trips
• Proficient in using SmartBoards, computers, and other technologies
• Willing to learn, instruct, and assess students in our comprehensive literacy and numeracy programs such as Confident Learners, Jolly Phonics, Literacy Place Series, Read 180, System 44, SOLARO, Jump Math, and Mathletics
• Background in arts, music, and/or land-based outdoor programming
• Knowledge and experience with Power School
• Land-based programming
