The Nunavut Department of Education invites applications for the following position: Principal

The status of this position is: 3 Year Term

The position is 1.0 PY (full-time)

School Description:
Quqshuun Ilihakvik is a K-6 school with a population of 225 students.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate must have a Bachelor of Education Degree
• Candidate must be eligible for Nunavut Teaching Certificate

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years successful school administrative experience
• Graduate training in school administration
• Experience in dealing with site based management of school finances
• Experience in the development and promotion of professional learning communities
• Experience in leading staff formative assessment protocols
• Knowledgeable in the area of Balanced Literacy (training preferred)
• Willingness to engage students outside the classroom (land/co-curricular)
• Knowledge and experience in ESL
• Evidence of recent professional development and growth
• Knowledge of and experience with current assessment methods
• Commitment to develop safe, positive, culturally appropriate school environments that comply with the Inuuqatigiitsiarniq Policy and its Regulations
• Cross-cultural Northern experience/training and the ability to integrate local cultural values into programme(e.g. IQ)
• Ability to build positive working relationships with parents and community through effective communication

Subsidized Staff Housing is available. However, sharing may be required.

The salary range is $73,528 – $115,291 per annum depending upon qualifications and experience. There is also a Northern Allowance in the amount of $26,345 per annum.
