The Sahtu Divisional Education Council is seeking an experienced Grade 2-3-4 teacher for the 2018/19 school year.

The candidates must have or be completing a Bachelor of Education Degree and be eligible for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate.

The following criteria will be important considerations in the hiring process:
-Strong background in Elementary Education and teaching in the core subject areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Training in Literacy and Numeracy, especially Fountas & Pinnell Reading Assessments and Math Makes Sense.
-Excellent classroom management skills
-Knowledge of, or commitment to become knowledgeable of the prescribed NT Curricula in related areas
-Differentiated Instruction
-Understanding of and experience in the integration of technology into classroom instruction
- Strong collaboration skills are sought as teachers work together to implement classroom instruction.

The candidate should embrace strong connections with community and be open to engaging fully in the rich cultural and extra-curricular life of the school.

Teacher (1.0 TERM) - Start date: August 17, 2018; End date: June 20, 2019

Salary: dependent on qualifications - ranges from $79,386-$128,166 per annum, plus a very attractive benefits package including a Northern Living Allowance of approximately $28,615, and relocation expenses. For more information, the NWT Teachers' Collective Agreement is online:

With a population of approximately 100 residents (about 45 in the JK-12 school) this town is surely unique with its log homes and fantastic scenery. The school and community sit on a beautiful lake with a sunset view that will take your breath away.

Colville Lake School has two buildings the original school (big school) is a log complex that contains three classrooms. The adjacent school (small school) contains two classrooms. Since this community has retained their strong cultural values it is a very important part of the curriculum. There is a very successful trapper program along with a regular Slavey language and culture program for all students.
