Details: The Calgary Board of Education has immediate openings on our substitute teaching roster and for future contract consideration for Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing who hold a Master's Degree in Deaf Education. Specific skills we are looking for are: advanced ASL abilities; experience in instruction toward language development; knowledge of how to recognize problems with hearing aid technologies; encouraging the use of residual hearing through specific techniques; dealing with social emotional issues associated specifically with a hearing loss; educating parents about their child’s hearing loss; being able to read an audiogram and other assessments associated with hearing loss; and being able to work with paraprofessionals and other professional groups such as educational assistants, audiologists, speech pathologists and psychologists. Understanding of how Universal Design for Learning shapes the education of all students an asset.
