Applications are now being accepted by the Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture & Education Authority (NNCEA)for positions at the Otetiskewin Kiskinwamahtowekamik (OK)elementary, K-8 at Nelson House, Manitoba for the upcoming 2018-19 school year.

We are searching for the following teachers at Otetiskiwin Elementary:
-grade two (1)
-grade six (1)
-Resource teacher for gr. 6-8 (1)

These are full-time positions in a First Nations Control of First Nations Education system in northern Manitoba. Lots of exciting, dynamic things are happening in our system. Besides adherence to the provincial curriculum & legislation, we want to do other things that will make our educational system "shine".

We have a PATH plan and want our students to know who they are, where they come from so they will know where they can go. Direction for the future has been set. We will be "thinking outside the box" in many dynamic areas:
-a "flex-days" calendar for 2018-19
-integration of land-based learning
instruction/Aboriginal perspectives
-lots more language & cultural activities
-Elders in the school
-gradual immersion of the Nehetho lang.
These are some of the major ideas not all!

Prospective educators must be Manitoba Certified and also must submit a Child Abuse Registry Check with a Criminal Record check or Vulnerable Sector Check if successful.

If hired, the applicant is expected to sign a declaration/disclosure form, a contract and begin work on August 24th, 2018 for the 2018-19 school year.

Nelson House is a drive-in community of about 3000 and is one hour's drive from Thompson. Many amenities exist: two schools, an arena, nursing station, gas station, businesses, community store, RCMP detachment, upcoming multi-plex, etc. For more information about Nelson House, or our schools, please visit

The NNCEA prefers that teachers reside in the community in local teacherages (if available) which are modern and well-maintained. Rent is reasonable with all utilities included and basic furnishings. An updated security system is in place as well.
